What this tool does — and what it does not
The tool enlarges your picture in several smooth steps and then applies an adjustable sharpening pass so edges look crisp instead of mushy. This is high-quality resampling, not generative AI. It cannot invent details that were never captured, so a tiny, heavily compressed image will become larger but still soft. For clean, reasonably sized sources — logos, screenshots, product photos, scans — the result is clearly better than a plain browser stretch.
Picking a factor
- 2× gives the best quality and is right for most jobs.
- 3× works for graphics and clean photos.
- 4× is for emergencies — expect visible softness unless the original was very clean.
If your device’s memory cannot handle the full size, the tool limits the result and tells you the final dimensions.
Sharpening
Higher values make edges stronger but can add halos around text and high-contrast lines. About 30–50% suits photos; use 60% or more for flat logos and diagrams; use 0% if the result already looks crunchy.
Better results
- Start from the largest, least-compressed original you have.
- Enlarge first, then apply any compression afterwards with Compress Image.
- For an exact pixel size use Resize Image.
